iPhone
iPhone is a smartphone that is extremely multimedia enabled and has been designed and sold by Apple Inc, the makers of such products as the Macbook, the Apple Mac, and the iPod. The handset was released in 2007, and has taken on various new forms over the years, introducing various different versions.
The smartphone functions as a camera phone, which allows users to leave visual voicemail for friends and family. The device is also one of the most intuitive media players currently available on the market, (it essentially acts as a more visual iPod), allowing users to store and listen to their entire music collection. Safari, the smartphone’s web browser, has gained much acclaim in recent years, and is extremely responsive, with fast loading times, and multiple options and features.
The Internet client enables users to use e-mail, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Much of the interface is based around the large touchscreen, which dominates the front of the handset, and enables individuals to use a virtual keyboard rather than physical one. Most of the features and applications can be accessed via the touchscreen, including the App Store, which was launched in 2008, and now has 200,000 apps, all approved by Apple. The only real alternative is Google’s Android Store, but still, the App Store has more than triple the amount of Apps available.
